Hamilton is working in innovative ways to expand services and access to economic opportunities for local refugee and immigrant populations. They are using policy research, issue briefs, video, blogs, and wikis to communicate to the broader campus and community about the needs of this population and how to get involved.

Sub-Grant Proposal
- Events/Meetings held or attended: Meeting with faculty, meeting with Refugee Ctr Director, however did not get entire working group together at one time. Meeting with Asst. Dir of Ref Ctr to plan Burmese Weaving Project and collaborate on grant. Meetings with students through spring 2009 to revamp website and link all projects to be accessible to students and community. Community Partner meetings monthly with Adult Education teachers for ESOL adult learners.
- Primary social media developed/utilized: Podcasts, policy options wiki, website, video of Bonner Leader for received $1,000 Case Foundation grant for video project; Facebook page/group for Project SHINE, wiki developed for ESOL instructors in community and students in teacher training course for ESOL.

- Service/related events held or organized: Summer Internship student works full-time at Ref Ctr for Burmese Weaving Project, planning with Campus ITS for video documentation of project.

- Just begun with pages and groups for each service-learning project -- project SHINE, Youth Development Project and VITA (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance. Full-time intern for next 5 weeks is adding to these.

- Other Bonners: Bonners involved in creating policyoptions wiki for After-School Programs. New Bonner hired for Immigrant & Refugee project to expand Project SHINE and work with special classes of 18-20 year olds (new grant proposal to PA/NY Campus Compact Consortium).
- Students at large: Reaching out to students through Facebook pages and making website attractive and accessible.
- Campus Groups/Departments: Working with Govt. Dept. Faculty to form a working group with Ref Center Director and key students; creating print materials for SL and CBR projects to market. Plan to reach out to faculty through Facebook pages too.
- Community Constituents: Refugee Center Director for area of Immigration, School Administrators and Site Coordinators for Youth Development Project
Goals & Progress for Summer/Fall 2009

- Complete Facebook pages for service-learning projects and launch for student engagement in August and hold presentations through Think Tank or similar venue for increasing visibility.
- Complete Civic Engagement wiki for public education and enroll departments in using.
- Complete video of Burmese Weaving Project for Refugee Center use in marketing and for our website.
- Prepare our piece of a presentation/summary for the Bonner Fall Directors Meeting (workshop or fair).
