Tools
Ideas
- Platforms
- GarageBand (on Macs) to make podcast
- others?
- Sound Forge or Total Recorder for PC's
Audio or video PSAs created by community partners and students (educate about issues, provide agency information, highlight campus connection to local service projects)
- Broadcast community meetings that members of the public aren't able to attend
- Audio podcasts for the purposes of reflection. Students, faculty and community partners could create reflective pieces tha t would be available in a reflection library. The purpose of the podcast would be to address the major questions associated with specific issues.
- A podcast that specifically address the how to of reflection for anyone involved in service.
Examples
-
- Podcasts have been experimented with on a few campuses (like Guilford College) as a way to promote the campus culture of service and participation in large-scale service events, like MLK Day. Because they incorporate music, talk, and even video, these new media can be much more persuasive than fliers. Schools and students can easily upload and download podcasts (and YouTube videos) using networking tools.
- From Campus Surveys of Social Media Usage
- We are working on getting podcasts on our website, and I think it will be extremely beneficial. I believe it will help with outreach, networking, and recruitment!
- Used to record workshops, lectures (courses)
- We are currently have podcasts on our website with student reflections and information on the program. Next year, we plan to produce a weekly Bonner podcast.
- There is great potential in this though we have not developed it. There was (and may still be) a student group that was specifically organized as a Podcast crew. This is great to support the educational aspects of the issues we are addressing though Service.
