Page history last edited by Nicole Tommasini 1 yr ago

Siena College, although new to the Bonner network, has initiated many Serve 2.0 tools in the first year with the program. Our staff and students collaborate on social media projects and are in the process of developing new strategies for effective use.

Overview of Social Media Tools Used:

  • Blog
  • Wiki
  • Pictures
  • Videos
  • Google Calendar
  • Facebook
  • Text Messaging

Blog

Students use the Siena College Bonner Leader Program Blog to submit their reflections about service projects, articles and sometimes daily life. (sienablp.blogspot.com/)

Wiki

Students use wiki to recieve and share information about themselves and their community partners. All resources needed (including link to blog and calendar) can be found on the wiki. We are currently working on updating our usage on the wiki. (http://sienabonnerleaders.pbwiki.com/)

Picture&Video

We make a point of documenting all events with pictures (which can be found on the wiki). With the Fall Bonner Congress we will be initiating a new project with digital video including a "True Life: I Am a Siena College Bonner Leader" documentary-style series.

Google Calendar

We use a google calendar to update students, faculty and administration of upcoming meetings, locations and times.

Facebook

We have a Siena College Bonner Leaders Facebook page we keep updated with announcements. We also use facebook messaging as a secondary e-mailing possibility(since students may check their facebook pages more frequently then their school e-mail accounts) (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=12097292401&ref=ts)

Text Messaging (TWITTER)

We have learned that text messaging is one of the fastest forms of communication among students and we will often use text messaging to relay quick messages and reminds to students about meetings, paperwork ect. We have begun using TWITTER in order to send out meeting reminder/notification text messages.
